The Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), in collaboration with Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), organized the “PMU-B Quantum Technology Consortium Networking #1” on 4–5 July 2024 at The Paz Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The event aimed to strengthen regional collaboration and exchange ideas on quantum technology development across ASEAN.

The conference was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Dr. Poolsak Kosiyaporn, Deputy Director of the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council. More than 100 participants attended, including experts, private-sector representatives, members of Thailand Quantum Research Consortium (QTRic), and quantum researchers from ASEAN countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

The event featured research presentations and panel discussions on responsible quantum technology development, the intersection of science, art, and technology in the quantum era, and pathways for commercial applications and private-sector collaboration.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Worawat Meevasana, project leader and faculty member at SUT, presented Thailand’s quantum research ecosystem development and introduced the “Quantum Valley Initiative,” highlighting the country’s potential in infrastructure, scientific capability, and specialized workforce development. The initiative aims to position Thailand as a regional hub for quantum technology and promote future applications in healthcare, energy, and next-generation industries.
